Catastrophe firm donates $25,000 to New Horizons

(March 24, 2007) BMS CAT® of Fort Worth, Texas donated $25,000 of building supplies Friday to the New Horizons Habitat ReStore on Spring Street.

Christine Rossi of BMS hopes the residents whose homes were damaged by the tornado will buy the discounted building supplies to repair their homes. This in turn will allow New Horizons to build more homes in this area, she said.

The donation included supplies like doors, tiles, insulation, siding, etc. BMS is here in Americus assisting Sumter Regional Hospital with its biohazard material and chemical cleanup at the original hospital structure.

Rossi, who resides in Charleston, S.C., said the cleanup at the hospital should take two more weeks. Rossi urged her bosses at the corporate headquarters in Fort Worth to donate the supplies after she saw firsthand the devastation in Americus.

Rossi said she regularly volunteers with her Habitat affiliate in Charleston. The people in Americus have been wonderful to her since she arrived two weeks ago, she explained. "I have never met people so nice and warm."
